Following the local elections held on Thursday 2 May 2024, the LGA’s political proportionality has now been calculated and independently verified. The LGA has joined forces with the Electoral Commission and the Jo Cox Foundation to call for no abuse towards candidates at this set of local elections.

“While overall activity levels remain stable, we need to tackle the inequalities within our communities which affect access to adults based on their location, wealth, age, ethnicity and gender.

The LGA is aiming to provide councils with support to harness opportunities, drive improvement across all regions and deliver critical services to communities.
