The RSH/WCH project being supported by One Public Estate will see a step-change improvement in the utilisation of land and buildings at both hospitals.

The Trust decided to implement an electronic system to find a better way of managing complex discharges in 2013. This was developed in APEX, a low-code development platform that enables an organisation to build scalable and secure apps. This example of a local initiative forms part of our managing transfers of care resource.

Southend Council has created a new steering group to coordinate the fight against county lines, ensuring the two safeguarding boards, community safety partnership and health and wellbeing board (HWB) are working together. It has already led to a public awareness campaign being run and other projects are now in the pipeline. This case study is an example of how councils are tackling youth violence.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has a track record of collaborative working. One example of this is the Joint Area Action Plan for Southend Airport and its Environs (JAAP). The joint area action plan was a result of partnership working between the Southend Council planning team and neighbouring Rochford Borough Council (with input from Essex County Council) and was adopted in December 2014.

Rubicon Regeneration were commissioned as part of the LGA’s Economic Growth Advisers programme to support Southend-on-Sea Borough Council to improve outcomes for 18-25s in Southend-on-Sea.

Southend City Council is refreshing its approach to teenage pregnancy with a host of new initiatives to help prevent conceptions and the impact on health inequalities that comes with it.

A drop-in clinic has been established for street-based sex workers in Southend, providing them with access to mental health and sexual health workers and a nurse prescriber. It is part of a wider strategy that has been developed to provide better support to this community of women.

Southwark has recently launched the Green Buildings Fund, which uses Section 106 carbon offset payments from developers to fund retrofit and low carbon technologies in council buildings.

A case study focusing on how Southwark Council took action on four Large Panel System buildings in their estate, and ensured residents were engaged and informed throughout this process.

Southwark Council has been implementing a ‘no mow’ policy in our major parks and elsewhere. We have recently introduced ‘cut and collect’ techniques with the purchase of new equipment funded by the Mayor of London’s rewilding fund.
