In November 2018, local government came together on social media for the biggest annual online celebration of the people who keep our communities running.
The seventh annual #OurDay took place on 20 November 2018. The 24 hour social media marathon gives everyone who works or volunteers in local public services the chance to share their stories of how they improve the quality of life of residents.
On Twitter alone, over 10,000 people took part, posting close to 34,000 tweets, reaching more than 26 million people. As a result, #OurDay trended number 1 in the UK all day, as well as fourth worldwide.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and shared their work – together we highlighted a day in the life of local government, the many services we provide, and the difference it makes for our communities.
