Council environmental health, trading standards and licensing teams have played a critical role in COVID compliance and enforcement work. During the course of the pandemic, the LGA produced various guidance notes for councils on key COVID compliance issues to supplement or fill gaps in other guidance. As regulations have changed, most of these documents has now been archived; however, there are links below to documents that remain relevant.

This licensing of outdoor drinking and dining guidance note sets out the immediate first steps for councils to consider now that the Business and Planning Act has come into force. The guidance also outlines some wider reopening issues for councils and business to consider.
