Best practice guide – encouraging more women to stand to be councillors

Following discussions, the LGA Labour Women’s Taskforce decided to gather best practice from around the country where Labour Groups have had success in getting women to stand to be councillors in order to help other local parties and Labour Groups get women to stand.

This guidance includes the use of All Women Shortlists, particularly in winnable seats, allowing interested women to shadow existing candidates before putting themselves forwards, holding targeted training sessions for women who are interested in standing, and holding women only canvass sessions to build the confidence of women involved locally.  If you have any of your own best practice to share please email [email protected]
