A pilot in one of the most deprived ward’s in Portsmouth will focus on the environmental drivers of obesity and bring together work across the council, from housing, transport and education to planning and public health.

Norfolk County Council has been working closely with partners on the project Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement, and Recovery (ADDER) pilot to reduce instances of drug related crime and deaths within the county.

The community fund, with grants of up to £1,000 at a time, is available for partners who want to run smokefree events and initiatives. 

Oxfordshire County Council has worked closely with local GPs to ensure women have access to LARC and the system is administered fairly in terms of whether it is the council or NHS that pays for the service. This case study forms part of our sexual health resource.

Oxfordshire’s substance misuse has seen an improvement in performance for clients with alcohol problems after re-organising the way clinics are delivered. The service introduced segmentation – grouping together clinics with similar clients.

Oldham council is working closely with communities leaders and key partners to address vaccine hesitancy amongst its ethnic minority population.

Oldham has invested in capacity to implement a wide-range of in-depth health and wellbeing initiatives which operate across the council, with Oldham clinical commissioning group (CCG) and with other local partners.

Working groups bringing together all the different parts of the sexual health service are being set up in Nottinghamshire to enable closer cooperation. A year in, the project has already led to women being given easier access to LARC. This case study forms part of our sexual health resource.

As part of our work with the Early Years sector and the Food Environment through the Childhood Obesity Trailblazer programme (COTP) we decided to consult with providers (childminders, day care, after school clubs) to establish levels of knowledge, awareness, confidence and skills regarding food and nutrition. Our aim was to set a baseline from responses to help us measure progress and success against our overall project objectives. We also wanted to identify the needs of the Early Years sector and any further support required in relation to the food environment, adopting a whole systems approach.
