Case studies

The projects aim to support residents of East Lindsey who may be experiencing isolation, living in poor health or living with dementia. During lockdown the Trust had to find new ways to continue these projects and ensure some of the district’s most vulnerable residents were supported through the pandemic.

Residents' involvement in the design of a small branch library on the outskirts of Brighton has been an inspiration for the LSP. This case study shows how the council, along with other partners across the city, has developed a city-wide approach to engagement activities.

As part of the post-Covid city centre plan Plymouth Culture developed and launched a programme of meanwhile use, taking on empty units and activating them as spaces for creative and cultural projects. The objective was to look beyond simply driving footfall to reimagining the high street.

Since the contract began in 2015, participation has increased significantly, facilities have been improved and the long-term sustainability of the service is now secure.

Celebrating the area’s rich history of innovation, the Museum of Making in the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site opened in May 2021 as a contemporary space telling Derby’s 300-year history of making.

Throughout the pandemic Sheffield Museums focused on bringing collections, exhibitions and events to people online and in community settings. Museums by Mail was conceived to lift the spirits of those at risk of loneliness.
