Bath and North East Somerset Council are continuing to mobilise their cross-partner Community Wellbeing Hub to support the most vulnerable residents, most recently addressing the pressures created by the cost of living crisis.

Recognising the council cannot do it alone, the communications team is amplifying its reach through committed and enthusiastic partners.

With a local referendum in early 2016, a Police and Crime Commissioner election, and the EU referendum on the cards, Bath and North East Somerset Council wanted to try new communications techniques to increase voter engagement. This case study forms part of our social media strategy resource.

Close working between the promoter and local council meant that officers could appreciate the commercial approach being undertaken by IM Land, while the developers were able to fully support the council in delivering their aspirations for this brownfield site located in a highly sensitive ecological and landscape location on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A digital solution designed to assist a two-way conversation between hospital staff and patients to assist discharge. A simple online referral form helps patients put in place the support they need as they prepare to go home from hospital.  The form focuses on eight areas of need, with priority given to discharge dependent services delivered by third sector partners.  A dashboard view enables ward staff to keep up to date with the progress of referrals and third sector partners are able to work together to deliver a more co-ordinated approach to care.

CURO is a not-for-profit housing and support organisation based in Bath, providing affordable homes and care and support services across the West of England. This example of a local initiative forms part of our managing transfers of care resource.

The public health team serving Central Bedfordshire, Bedford Borough and Milton Keynes has set up flexible COVID-19 team that has moved seamlessly from local contact tracing to encouraging local residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
