Green living and working is important to Wealden. To ensure sensitive, sustainable economic growth, the council sought to consider the development of a renewable energy centre and encourage the take up of green energy options.

Helping people through the recession Erewash Borough Council has been working with partners to help local people through the recession. It aims to ensure that residents with money worries or mortgage problems know how to get the support that's available.

The council is working closely with anchor institutions to identify the plans of large employers, mapping the asset base and developing a ‘Skills Engine’. This will support local recruitment and a drive to increase higher skilled and knowledge-intensive employment.

This case study looks at how Sheffield City Council approached the tricky task of demolishing and rebuilding an out-of-date estate.

Sheffield City Council wants to make the regeneration of the estates at Scowerdons, Weakland and Newstead (SWaN) as successful as possible. We know that this will be a long and complicated process that will cause some level of disturbance for everyone affected. We will work hard to minimise the disruption wherever possible.

Successfully anticipating and meeting housing need is one of the biggest challenges facing local authorities. This project forms one initiative, as part of a broader aim, to meet the ambitious housing requirement across the district, providing a broad range of accommodation for local residents.

This project aimed to develop a system where potholes could be reported by residents. The technology will allow the pothole to be located using mapping technology and allow the customer to track progress in fixing the defect. This forms part of our Digital Channel Shift Programme.
