To address the affordable housing issue for staff, the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), One Public Estate, The London Estates Delivery Unit (LEDU) and the Greater London Authority developed the Homes for NHS Staff toolkit.

As certain areas of the country have seen house prices rise significantly over recent years, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), Greater London Authority and One Public Estate are responding to the lack of affordable housing affecting the supply and retention of NHS staff.

Kirkby Town Centre, located within Knowsley, required large scale public sector intervention to drive and deliver regeneration for the area. This included a number of service co-locations, demolitions and exploring options for unlocking underutilised brownfield land to improve the housing, leisure and retail offer in Kirkby.

London Borough of Lambeth has benefited from over £800k from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) Land Release Fund (LRF), which is managed by the One Public Estate (OPE) programme, to support delivery of affordable housing and regeneration on council owned land.

Redeveloping the historic Allerton Road Fire and Police Station to deliver 47 new homes focused on affordability and shared ownership in South Liverpool.

A One Public Estate (OPE) funded masterplan has enabled the successful delivery of a major transformation programme in Waltham Forest.

A growing demand for appropriate accommodation for adults with social care needs – along with a lack of suitable properties – led Dorset Council to use land which is destined for regeneration to create temporary, adaptable, and moveable homes for local residents.
