The need for faster broadband has been exacerbated due to the increasing demand on our communications networks and the roll out of full fibre is key to supporting increased home working, delivering sustainable growth and increasing productivity in Dorset.

Libraries across Dorset host a range of early years programmes such as Rhyme Times, Library Gets Lively and Story Times to support early language development and a love of books and reading. Following a Rhyme Time session at Portland Library, staff identified a need to develop their sessions in response to the requirements of some of their families; in the main the isolation of some parents who found it difficult to break into established groups, or who were new to the area and had not developed relationships with other parents.

Embedding meaningful and sustainable involvement of children and young people at every step of the commissioning cycle has helped transform mental health services for young people in Doncaster.

In April 2017 Doncaster Council was hit by a cyber-attack. This case study provides a summary of events and how the organisation successfully managed the incident.

Doncaster’s sexual health provider Solutions4Health has enjoyed great success in engaging sex workers after creating an outreach sexual health nurse post last year.

This case study forms part of Shaping Places for Healthier Lives, a grant programme funding five council-led partnerships across England to build places that support good health for all. The programme is funded by the Health Foundation, delivered in partnership with the Local Government Association, and supported in delivery and learning by the Design Council and Cordis Bright/PPL. 

Doncaster Council has worked with local NHS organisations and care providers to try to ensure high rates of flu vaccination uptake. There has been a particular focus on care staff in recent years after they were incorporated into the winter flu vaccination campaign. Work has also been completed with other groups including council staff and pregnant women.

Doncaster participated in the Housing Adviser’s Programme (HAP) in order to seek advice and obtain support for financial innovation in relation to the production of an equity-based product(s).

The Social Housing Decarbonisation Funding (SHDF) provided an opportunity for Milton Keynes City Council to develop a methodology for energy efficiency upgrades that would be scalable whilst utilising a street-level approach with Mears Group plc.

South Kesteven District Council is developing a new, collaborative, housing strategy using the tools and techniques learnt by working with the LGA and Design Council.
