Bournemouth Borough Council has taken a once-in-a-generation opportunity to co-ordinate and shape the town centre's development. With its natural assets and fame as a coastal resort, it has begun an exciting journey of rejuvenation and growth. It has reviewed its long-term Town Centre Vision's progress to date and outlined what is still to come. Partnership is key. Ideas becoming reality include: leisure, cultural and entertainment facilities focused around a Grand Garden Walk, 1,500 to 2,000 new homes, at least 23,410 square metres of new retail floor space and 36,000 of office and employment floor space, employment opportunities including 3,000 office jobs, a new multiplex cinema, and more quality hotel accommodation to support the tourist and conference industries.
