LGA responds to appointment of new NHS England Chief Executive

"Amanda Pritchard is a highly respected and experienced senior leader in the NHS and her appointment comes at a crucial time, not only in our recovery from the pandemic, but also during an ambitious transformation agenda being taken forward in the Health and Care Bill."

Responding to the announcement of Amanda Pritchard as the new Chief Executive of NHS England, Cllr James Jamieson, Chairman of the Local Government Association, said:

“Amanda Pritchard is a highly respected and experienced senior leader in the NHS and her appointment comes at a crucial time, not only in our recovery from the pandemic, but also during an ambitious transformation agenda being taken forward in the Health and Care Bill

“The LGA has worked closely with NHS England to ensure that local government, political and professional leaders are at the heart of new health and care partnerships designed to improve services, reduce health inequalities and boost health and wellbeing. We are confident that this appointment will build on and further expand this partnership approach.

“In particular, we look forward to working with the new Chief Executive on championing the urgent need for adult social care reform, as well as the vital importance of promoting healthier lifestyles, both of which are absolutely integral to the successful running of the NHS.”
