Councils wish England luck ahead of Euro 2022 final

“On behalf of councils in England, I’d like to wish Sarina Wiegman and the England Women’s football team the best of luck in their Euro 2022 Final against Germany at Wembley on Sunday."

Ahead of the Women’s Euro 2022 final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Cllr James Jamieson, Chairman of the Local Government Association said:

“On behalf of councils in England, I’d like to wish Sarina Wiegman and the England Women’s football team the best of luck in their Euro 2022 Final against Germany at Wembley on Sunday.

“Councils play a vital role in providing support and facilities for grassroots football and I know councils across the country will be doing what they can to encourage women and girls to get involved with their local football club after this amazing run.

“The whole country has been brought together by their journey through the tournament so far. Regardless of whether they win or lose, they have helped to grow the game by inspiring a generation of young people to walk in their footsteps and take up football themselves. The team have done the country proud.

“Come on England!”
