The LGA Cyber Challenge
From January to March 2022 we will be piloting this new 'challenge' to encourage councils to explore their cyber security culture – sharing fresh perspectives in a safe, friendly and constructive environment. We are seeking expressions of interest from councils, councillors and council officers to take part in the challenge as participating councils or peers.
In this episode, one of our NGDP graduates, Katie Goodger, explores what is needed to fulfil the COP26 Glasgow Pact and what else could have been added so communities could go further and faster on climate action.

T Levels Industry Placement: Providing new opportunities for young people
In 2020, the government launched a new technical qualification called T Level. The LGA, supported by the Department for Education, is offering support to councils to promote their council as a career destination for young people. We are asking councils to provide one young person a T Level industry placement from September 2021.
Hampshire County Council Tree Strategy
The Tree Strategy sets out Hampshire County Council’s approach to increasing and connecting woodland areas, green’ corridors and networks across the county. It will supplement and connect existing sites through group tree planting, to create a county-wide ‘Hampshire Community Forest’.

As part of our work to cut carbon emissions and increase renewable energy in Cornwall, we have installed a new smart-grid enabled wind turbine in partnership with Centrica that will create enough green energy to power over 1,440 Cornish homes a year.
