This toolkit developed in 2016 could still help learning on how to assist local authorities that are experiencing low community engagement and who want to provide communities with the skills and knowledge to produce a successful neighbourhood plan. In Cheltenham, it enabled each community to produce a community profile to inform the Cheltenham Plan and its policies. It includes;
- Advice on how to engage with different community members;
- Top tips for designing a community survey;
- Guidance and templates that can be easily adapted to fit the needs of other local authorities;
- Consideration of how to engage with businesses; and
- A ‘next steps' chapter for communities that have successfully established their ‘community profile'.
