This project was developed to create a national picture regarding safeguarding adults’ activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was considered important to understand what happened to learn any lessons for future COVID-19 outbreaks and respond to changing safeguarding needs. It is hoped the data collected could improve understanding of the impact of COVID-19 locally and nationally to help inform preparations and future planning.

The insight project was developed to create a national picture regarding safeguarding adults’ activity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This second report, completed in May 2021, provides information on safeguarding adults activity during the COVID-19 pandemic up to December 2020. It follows on from the first report which provided a picture of how safeguarding adults activity in England was affected by the initial stage of the pandemic and first lockdown, up until June 2020.

Working with agency and community partners, councils have a strong track record of responding to community cohesion challenges and are well placed to facilitate partnerships to counter extremism and tackle hate crime.

This online resource outlines the key roles councils play in supporting local skills progression and highlights a number of successful interventions undertaken to date.

The exporting industry is complex and difficult to navigate. The Local Government Association (LGA) has therefore commissioned this guide to provide a resource to councils looking to support local firms to increase their level of exports.

These case studies describe the efforts of local councils working towards a smokefree future for their communities.

The examples demonstrate how councils have been able to reduce 16 to 18-year-old disengagement to an all-time low and increasingly support older young people towards work. Evidence demonstrates the value of creating personal advisers for individuals, planning provision across places, and brokering leadership and support into work.

This publication is intended as a guide for councillors to help them understand the current landscape for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and engage with their officers, colleagues and the wider public with more confidence.
