Brownfield housing land and local development orders masterclass

The government has published the latest shots in its campaign to encourage the development of brownfield land for housing.  The consultation document Building more homes on brownfield land signals mechanisms to back up its expectation that local development orders granting permission for homes will be in place on more than 90% of brownfield land suitable for new housing by 2020.

The measures that have been outlined will impact the future work of Local Planning Authorities.

The PAS masterclasses provided a chance to:

  • hear from DCLG about the effect the consultation proposals could have for councils and how the invitation to bid for funds can support the cost of making housing LDOs.
  • learn more about making local development orders to bring forward housing sites from those pilots that were launched last summer.
