Employment law

The UK has a substantial body of law which legislates against prejudice-based actions in the workplace. The primary legislation is the Equality Act 2010.

The Equality Act sets out employers’ responsibilities to act fairly and employees protections against discrimination in the workplace at all stages of employment and pre-employment during recruitment.

The LGA Employment Relations Unit (ERU) has summaries of key equalities legislation specifically designed for local authority employers.
