The August 2018 edition of the Statistical Alert, which provides a monthly snapshot of core economic and labour market data summarised from the Office for National Statistics, independent labour market organisations and LGA Research and Information, is now available.
The Consumer Price Index including owner occupiers housing costs (CPIH) unchanged from 2.3 per cent in June 2018 at 2.3 per cent in July 2018. Retail Price Index (RPI) annual inflation decreased to 3.2 per cent in July 2018 from 3.4 per cent in June 2018
Figures provided by XpertHR, an online resource for employment law HR good practice and benchmarking, showed the median whole economy pay settlement level of 2.3 per cent to the three months ending July 2018, down from 2.5 per cent for the three months June 2018.
Results from the Labour Research Department (LRD) survey provided by XpertHR showed the median level of union-negotiated awards for the whole economy was 2.9 per cent in the three months to July 2018 a decrease from 3.0 per cent for the previous three months to June 2018.
The Engineering Employers Federation mean (EEF, manufacturing) was 2.5 per cent in the three months to July 2018, a decrease from 2.6 per cent for the three months June 2018.
