Independent Group at the LGA Annual Conference 2017 – News Update – 10 July 2017

The vibrancy of 1,400 people exchanging ideas for better local governance is phenomenal and our group members were very well represented at this year's LGA Annual Conference & Exhibition right through the three days.

Our members took centre stage on a number of occasions and spoke well in meetings and events. Relive some of the key moments of the Conference and on Twitter using #LGAConf17.

As usual, the Independent Group hosted a number of political sessions and networking opportunities for Group Members only. This included a session on housing to discuss how to make best use of council land and assets with Natalie Elphicke OBE, Chief Executive of the Housing and Finance Institute and Brian Reynolds, Director of One Public Estate, and a session on social media skills with Leadership Consultant Seltzer Cole.

Key contributions from Martin Bell, Martin Surl, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire, Lord Victor Adebowale CBE, one of our Vice Presidents, and the Leader of Plaid Cymru, Leanne Wood AM all showed how our voice is being heard nationally.
