LGA responds to latest £150 council tax rebate figures

“Councils have worked hard to get energy rebate payments out to eligible households and it is great to see that 15 million of them have received this so far, including over 90 per cent of those on direct debits."

Responding to latest figures showing that nearly 80 per cent of eligible households have received the Government’s £150 council tax rebate in the first three months to help with the cost of living, a spokesperson for the Local Government Association, which represents more than 350 councils across England and Wales, said:

“Councils have worked hard to get energy rebate payments out to eligible households and it is great to see that 15 million of them have received this so far, including over 90 per cent of those on direct debits.

“Councils are continuing to focus their efforts on those who do not pay their council tax by direct debit, or where the details of those who pay by direct debit do not match council records. Many councils have invited online applications and offered other options such as transfer to a nominated bank account, or voucher-based payments such as Post Office Payments.

“Anyone who is eligible for the £150 payment, but who has not received it yet, should contact their council as soon as possible.”
