Responding to the announcement of further funding made available through the Culture Recovery Fund, Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson, Chair of the Local Government Association’s Culture Tourism and Sport Board, said:

“It’s pleasing to see that the Government recognises the impact of rising cases of the Omicron variant is having financially on many hospitality and leisure businesses.

“The inclusion of Statutory Sick Pay for COVID-related absences will also relieve some financial pressures on businesses and while supporting employees. Alongside this, additional funding through the Culture Recovery Fund will ensure a range of businesses and organisations are not left behind during this period of uncertainty. As we move forwards, we urge Government to keep this support under review if restrictions tighten.”
